Terms
Last updated: October 21, 2026. This is a translation; the German Nutzungsbedingungen are the binding version.
These terms govern how you try, buy and use ShadowCursor: the app for Mac and Windows that lets AI agents operate your apps with a cursor of their own, and the connection for Claude or ChatGPT in the browser.
1. Provider and scope
ShadowCursor is provided by, and your contract is with:
Paul Kasten
Kollwitzstraße 76
10435 Berlin
Germany
Email: hello@shadowcursor.com
These terms apply to consumers and to businesses. A business's own terms and conditions apply only if we expressly agree to them.
2. Free trial
Every installation starts with a free 7-day trial with all features. You need no payment details for it. The trial applies once per device; reinstalling does not restart it. It ends by itself, costs nothing and does not turn into a subscription automatically. After that, ShadowCursor carries out your agents' requests again only once you subscribe.
3. Subscription and prices
After the trial you use ShadowCursor with a subscription: monthly for $12.99 or yearly for $69.99. On the German website the same amounts apply in euros. If you take the yearly plan within 24 hours after your trial ends, it costs $49.99 instead of $69.99 per year for as long as it runs; ShadowCursor shows you this offer after the trial. The monthly plan has no such offer.
Every subscription includes all features, unlimited agents, up to three devices and all updates while it runs. The price shown at checkout is binding. It includes VAT or sales tax where applicable. Stripe may convert the amount into your local currency.
4. Contract and payment
You choose your plan on our website or in ShadowCursor and go to Stripe's checkout page. There you enter your details, can check and correct everything before submitting, and place a binding order with the pay button. The contract is concluded as soon as your payment is confirmed; we then show you your license key. The contract languages are German and English. You can view, save and print these terms here at any time; you receive the receipt for your purchase by email.
Payment is handled on our behalf by Link, a Stripe service (Sold through Link, LLC), as merchant of record: Link collects the price at the start of each billing period, calculates and remits VAT or sales tax, sends receipts and invoices and helps with questions about charges and refunds through Link support. Your bank or card statement shows the payment as a payment to Link with the name ShadowCursor. The Link terms also apply to the payment. Your contract for ShadowCursor is with us.
5. Term and cancellation
The subscription renews for the period you chose, one month or one year, until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time without giving reasons, effective at the end of the current period: in ShadowCursor under "Manage subscription", through "Cancel your subscription" at the bottom of every page of our website, in your Link account at link.com or by email to hello@shadowcursor.com. You can keep using ShadowCursor until the end of the paid period.
If you are a consumer, you can cancel a yearly subscription after its first year at any time with one month's notice. We refund the prepaid amount for the time after the contract ends pro rata.
We can cancel a subscription with one month's notice to the end of a billing period, for example if we discontinue ShadowCursor. Both sides' right to terminate without notice for good cause remains unaffected.
If the payment for a new period fails, ShadowCursor stops working shortly after the end of the paid period until the payment is made.
6. Right of withdrawal for consumers
If you are a consumer, you have the following right of withdrawal.
Withdrawal notice
Right of withdrawal
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day of the conclusion of the contract.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, you must inform us (Paul Kasten, Kollwitzstraße 76, 10435 Berlin, Germany, email: hello@shadowcursor.com) of your decision to withdraw from this contract by an unequivocal statement (e.g. a letter sent by post or email). You may use the attached model withdrawal form, but it is not obligatory.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we shall reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (with the exception of the supplementary costs resulting from your choice of a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us), without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract. We will carry out such reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
End of the withdrawal notice
You can also withdraw through Link support; give "cooling-off period" as the reason. Link pays out the refund.
Model withdrawal form
(Complete and return this form only if you wish to withdraw from the contract.)

7. License and license key
For the duration of your trial and your subscription you may install and use ShadowCursor for your own private or professional purposes. This right is simple (non-exclusive) and non-transferable; all other rights in ShadowCursor remain with us.
Your license key works on up to three devices at a time. If you activate it on a fourth device, the device on which it has been activated longest is released. Keep the key safe and do not share it publicly or for payment.
You may not bypass the license check or the trial, or modify, decompile or reverse engineer ShadowCursor, except where the law expressly allows it (Sections 69d and 69e of the German Copyright Act).
8. Requirements and license check
ShadowCursor runs on macOS 15 Sequoia or later and on Windows 10 and 11; the Windows version is labelled as a beta. ShadowCursor operates apps through the operating system's accessibility and screen recording features and needs your permission for them. Whether a particular app can be operated this way also depends on that app; it is best to try your apps during the trial.
For the trial and the license, ShadowCursor contacts our server: when you activate it and then at least once a day when it is online. Without a connection, a licensed ShadowCursor keeps working for up to 14 days within the paid period. The privacy policy explains which data this involves.
9. Your responsibility for your AI agents
ShadowCursor carries out what the AI agents you connect ask for: it clicks, types, reads windows and takes screenshots of the windows an agent works in. These agents, such as Claude, Codex or ChatGPT, come from other providers; we have no control over what they do. You decide which agents you connect and which tasks you give them, and you are responsible for what your agents do with ShadowCursor as you are for your own actions.
AI agents make mistakes. Only let agents send messages, buy, delete or sign when you really want them to, check important results and back up important data.
Use ShadowCursor only within the law and respect the rights of others and the terms of the apps and websites your agents operate, including their rules on automated use. In particular, you may not use ShadowCursor to access other people's accounts, computers or data without authorization, to send spam, to commit fraud or to spread malware.
For defects of ShadowCursor itself, we are liable under Sections 13 and 14.
10. Claude or ChatGPT in the browser
If you wish, you can turn on a connection for Claude or ChatGPT in the browser in ShadowCursor. Your AI then calls ShadowCursor through https://shadowcursor.com/mcp, and we pass its calls and their results between your AI and your computer without storing their content (see the privacy policy). This needs an internet connection for your computer and your AI, and our server must be reachable.
Anyone with access to the connected AI account can operate your computer through this connection. So enter the connection code only in your own AI account, protect that account well and disconnect in ShadowCursor when you no longer need the connection. Claude and ChatGPT themselves are governed by the terms of Anthropic and OpenAI respectively; we have no control over their services.
11. Updates and changes
While your trial or subscription runs, you receive all updates to ShadowCursor, in particular the updates needed to keep ShadowCursor in conformity with the contract and secure.
We keep developing ShadowCursor and may change it for a valid reason, for example because of new versions of macOS, Windows or the AI agents, for security reasons or for new features. This costs you nothing. If a change impairs your access to ShadowCursor or its usability more than insignificantly, we inform you in advance, and you can end the subscription free of charge within 30 days after this information or after the change, whichever is later; we refund the prepaid amount for the time after that pro rata.
12. Availability
ShadowCursor works on your computer. Our server is needed for the trial, the license check, the purchase and the connection for Claude or ChatGPT in the browser. We keep it as reliably reachable as we can but cannot promise uninterrupted availability, for example during maintenance or outages at our hosting provider. ShadowCursor bridges short outages of the license check (Section 8).
13. Defects
The statutory rights in case of defects apply. Please report errors to hello@shadowcursor.com so we can fix them.
14. Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act and where we have given a guarantee.
For slight negligence we are liable only if we breach an essential contractual obligation, meaning an obligation whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on whose fulfilment you may regularly rely. In that case our liability is limited to the damage that was foreseeable and typical for this kind of contract when it was concluded. Otherwise, our liability for slight negligence is excluded.
These rules also apply to the liability of our agents and assistants. Your statutory rights in case of defects remain unaffected.
15. Changes to these terms
New versions of these terms apply to trials and subscriptions that start afterwards. Changes to these terms or to the price apply to a running subscription only if you expressly agree to them; otherwise it continues on the previous terms.
16. Governing law, jurisdiction and dispute resolution
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer habitually resident in another country, you keep the protection of that country's mandatory consumer protection laws.
If you are a merchant, a legal entity under public law or a special fund under public law, the place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising from this contract is Berlin. For consumers, the statutory places of jurisdiction apply.
We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
These terms are available in German and English. If the versions differ, the German version prevails.
